Planning a destination wedding in Italy
When planning a destination wedding in Italy, the most important thing is to have a good idea of how much you want to spend and a good grasp of what is really important to you as a couple.
With no clear budget in mind, on the other hand, things can get confusing: there are innumerable extras and add-ons that will all sound tempting, and if you’re not careful, the zeros will start piling on.
But with a well-defined strong, a skilled wedding planner can work miracles, giving you an Italian wedding> that’s unforgettable for you and easy on your wallet.
How much does it cost to get married in Italy for foreigners?
As much as we’d love to give you an exact figure, there are simply too many variables.
One of the main ones, of course, is location: as a rule of the thumb, the north of Italy is more expensive than the south, and major cities like Milan, Venice or Florence cost more than small towns or the countryside.
Other important factors include the time of year, the type of venue and reception, and the cost of the various services involved in a wedding, from the flowers to the cake and from photographers to caterers, which can all vary considerably depending on who and what you want.
Getting married in Italy on a low buget
What we can say with certainty is that you most definitely can have a fairy tale wedding in Italy even on a low budget.
All you need is an open mind and some flexibility.
We’re not talking about a quick, low-key affair.
We mean a beautiful ceremony in a quaint medieval church (or perhaps right in the vineyard), followed by a pool-side reception at a charming villa overlooking the Chianti hills.
Then again, a grand affair with hundreds of guests, celebrity entertainers and Michelin-starred chefs can quickly bring your budget into triple digits.
But no matter what kind of Italian wedding you want, remember that you’ll always save money if you’re willing to make some compromises.
If you dream of arriving in a white Lamborghini and have Giorgio Armani himself design your dress, things will get pricey.
But you may be pleasantly surprised if you’re willing to “settle” for Donatella V. and a red Ferrari… 😉
Ultimately, our Number One piece of advice is to have an exact budget in mind and be willing to make at least some concessions. Give those ingredients to an experienced wedding planner who knows how to pull some strings, and be prepared to be wowed!
