When Brittnie contacted us, she had already found the destination of her dreams: the Grand Hotel Convento in Amalfi, a stunning five-star hotel perched on the cliff that dominates the picturesque town and the entire coastline.

Despite the wedding date was set for the beginning of October, a little late in the season, we planned for an outdoor ceremony and dinner, confident on the mild fall days in the Italian south regions.

And we did the right thing! The temperatures were in the 80s for the whole three days of events! We organized sailing outings to Capri, guided tours of Pompei and a truly outstanding rehearsal dinner in a local sea-food restaurant that we privatized for the occasion.

For the ceremony décor and flowers, the bride chose a warm red palette degrading to a pink and cream color with a sophisticated ombre effect. The ceremony was held in the XII century cloister of the hotel, the part of the ancient monastery that, together with the Renaissance church, offer the quietness and the perfect atmosphere for the celebration of a wedding.

The architectural beauty of this cloister, with Moorish columns and pointed arches, is so essential that we struggled to find a floral design that would not intrude too much but rather enhance the details of its perfect volumes and shapes. We chose to use only flowers without any foliage in such a way to create a floral contour of the arches, using the color shades that go from deep red to pale pink and even softer hues like ivory.

After the ceremony the atmosphere was immediately lifted to a party mood by a marvelous folk trio that plunged us into a modern Neapolitan vibe. Up in the roof terrace of the hotel, there was an unobstructed 360-degree view of the coast and of the marvelous town of Amalfi.

The seated dinner was set up in the Monks’ walk, a striking terrace under flower-filled pergolas above the sea and was followed by a dance party by the pool with lots of candles and atmospheric lights all over.
